Nestled in the heart of California’s Central Valley, Modesto is a city that blends small-town warmth with big-city energy. Known for its rich agricultural heritage, vibrant arts scene, and close-knit neighborhoods, the area is home to generations of hard-working families and innovative businesses that keep our community growing and thriving. From the tree-lined streets and historic downtown to the endless opportunities for outdoor recreation, Modesto embodies the welcoming, resilient spirit that defines the Valley.
That’s why The Modesto Bee created Best in Modesto — to recognize the people and organizations that make this region shine. This program highlights local excellence and showcases the businesses that continue
to build community pride and strengthen our local economy.
This year, over 2,100 businesses, organizations, and individuals competed across 249 categories, with the community casting more than 123,000 votes — a 57% increase year-over-year. The enthusiastic participation from voters and nominees alike demonstrates how much residents value their local favorites and take pride in celebrating them.
A contest of this scale requires dedication and collaboration. We’re grateful to our hardworking local team, the many businesses that took part, and our advertisers whose support made this celebration possible.
